SafeFutures works to empower young people -- many of whom face tremendous life challenges -- to emerge as confident, resourceful, and engaged community members. Our vision is that every young person in the Puget Sound area has the opportunity to become involved community members while living safe and fulfilling lives. To achieve our mission and vision, we engage youth and their families through culturally responsive academic, prevention, and intervention services and programs. As a result of our work, young people participating in SafeFutures programs gain access to the resources and support they need to navigate their futures.

SafeFutures is seeking an experienced Program Director to help advance and support our mission as a key member of our management team. The Program Director will develop and oversee effective after school academic and youth development activities, provide supervision of program staff, manage contract program reports and relationships, and lead evaluation/data collection effort. This new role is ideal for a professional who is able to embed structure and manage change in an effort to prepare for programmatic growth.

  • Represent SafeFutures in various funded consortiums/meetings and community groups.
  • Negotiate and manage ongoing relationships with juvenile probation, courts, school administrators, and other related agencies.
  • Maintain computerized information systems, evaluation records and other related paperwork.
  • Supervise and be responsible for the general safety of students in program functions and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other SafeFutures staff and peer staff in similar programs.
  • Attend training, conferences and other similar events as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary to help ensure program success.

  • Four years of direct social service experience, working with youth and families coming from low economic communities presented with extreme challenges
  • Two years experience providing the essential functions listed above
  • Three years management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, or related social services field (Master’s Degree preferred) or relevant education, training, or work experience which indicates the ability to perform essential functions of the position

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement academic and/or life skills curriculum
  • Supervisory experience in a social service setting
  • Familiarity with RFP’s and grant writing ability
  • Strong public speaking, written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with the juvenile justice and public school systems and other social service agencies
  • Familiarity of alcohol/drug, mental health and youth gang issues
  • Life experience and/or extensive knowledge of and/or within BIPOC and immigrant communities
  • Bilingual in Southeast Asian, East African, or Spanish, or extensive knowledge of the culture(s)

  • $77,000 - $82,000 - annually
  • Full medical, dental, group life, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
  • Full-time, in person. This position will require some work during evenings and occasional weekends.
