Financial Manager - Part-Time Position
The Position: Cascadia Partners seeks an experienced Financial Manager to own the day-to-day financial operations of our 25-person urban planning firm. This role goes beyond bookkeeping and payroll management - the ideal candidate brings an accounting and payroll background, a sharp eye for accuracy, and the initiative to identify and improve financial processes. This is a salaried, part-time position (24 hours per week).
In-person, fully remote, and hybrid arrangements available. Applicants located in the Portland metro area are preferred, but we welcome remote applicants based in the Pacific Time Zone.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and send monthly client invoices, track payment status, and follow up on overdue accounts
- Process monthly payroll in Rippling, including maintaining employee records and coordinating with the Operations Manager on compensation changes
- Enter bills and pay vendors on schedule; process staff expenses
- Perform revenue matching, reconciliation, and cash flow updates
- Coordinate with external accountants on monthly reconciliations and tax compliance deadlines throughout the year
- Manage insurance administration and renewals, certificate of insurance requests, business license renewals, and annual 1099 preparation for contractors
- Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records across systems
- Support Managing Partners with financial reporting and data as needed
- Identify and flag process gaps; contribute to improving financial workflows over time
Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting coordination, or a comparable financial operations role
- Demonstrated accuracy in financial data entry and reconciliation; takes ownership of catching and resolving discrepancies before they escalate
- Experience processing payroll, preferably in Rippling or a comparable platform
- Experience with accounts receivable and payable, including client invoicing, vendor payments, and expense tracking
- Familiarity with basic financial controls and compliance administration, including insurance renewals, business licenses, audit preparation, and documentation practices that support audit readiness
- Comfortable working independently, managing a consistent set of recurring deadlines without close supervision, and keeping leadership informed on open items as they arise.
- Strong written communication skills, including professional correspondence with vendors, subcontractors, and external accountants
- Proven ability to work across multiple financial and administrative platforms simultaneously, and to learn new tools quickly
- Interest in exploring AI-enhanced tools to improve financial workflows - a plus!

- QuickBooks Online — Required

- Harvest or comparable time tracking software — Preferred
Compensation, Benefits, Vacation
- Hourly, part-time (24 hours per week) with a pay rate of $34 - $36/hr (depending on experience)
