Reed College seeks a kind and capable HR generalist or recruiting professional to be our next Human Resources Partner and Recruiter. Each member of the HR team is assigned a client group for which they provide recruiting and employee relations services. If you are a recruiter, we will teach you employee relations, and if you are an HR generalist, we will teach you to recruit! As well, this role will have responsibility for the training and professional development services that our team provides Reed staff. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources.

This is a full-time, exempt role with work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour unpaid lunch. Community is essential to a Reed education, so staff perform their work on campus. This is not a remote role. Salary for this position is $75,000 per year.

  • You have worked in dedicated HR or recruiting roles for at least six years.

  • It’s a plus if you’ve used social media to increase the size and diversity of your applicant pools.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead recruitments for new staff members. Partner closely with hiring managers and hiring teams, using each recruitment as an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with your clients.

  • Increase the diversity of Reed’s staff. Actively recruit those from underrepresented and marginalized identity groups. Defeat conscious and unconscious bias in the selection process.

  • Perform the full spectrum of HR generalist duties for your client group, including recruiting, onboarding, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.

  • Provide wise counsel to your key clients about organizational design and departmental leadership and supervisory practices.

  • Lead HR’s training and professional development programs. Coordinate the annual Management Development Seminar Series with other local colleges. Increase participation in all of HR’s training events and programs.

  • Lead HR’s onboarding programs for new hires.

  • Build system improvements to make HR processes less bureaucratic, more meaningful, and easier for clients to use.

  • Become an expert user of our HRIS (Banner). Enter your own data, pull your own reports, participate in testing, and suggest improvements.

  • Be dedicated to your own growth as a HR practitioner. Make mistakes and learn from them.
