PATH is recruiting for a Senior Commercialization Officer to support Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA) project teams.

PATH is a global organization that works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges. With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.

CVIA is structured to best apply our experience and expertise to every aspect of vaccine development and introduction across our broad portfolio of vaccine projects. As part of the Integrated Portfolio and Financial Management function, CVIA’s Commercialization team provides business and intellectual property strategy, partnering, and transactional support to CVIA project teams to advance specific vaccine development projects, which are grouped into three core disease areas: Malaria (MAL), Enteric & Diarrheal Diseases (EDD), and Respiratory Infections & Maternal Immunizations (RIMI). The Commercialization team is responsible for negotiating a wide variety of partnership agreements and providing alliance management and coordination across multiple internal and external parties, with emphasis on forming collaborations that support the PATH mission to make vaccines available in developing countries at a cost that will ensure uptake and sustainability for the public sector.

  • Serve as member of CVIA project teams with a focus on ensuring that partnering, global access, intellectual property, market development, and risk management perspectives are integrated into overall project plans.
  • Develop and implement intellectual property, technology transfer, and business strategies for specific vaccine development projects, including long-term development projects and complex multi-partner collaborations.
  • Support business negotiations for research collaboration, vaccine development, material transfer, intellectual property license agreements, and other types of agreements in support of CVIA projects with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, developing country vaccine manufacturers, academic institutions, and government agencies.
  • Ensure that partnerships with collaborators are structured to support global access objectives of providing access to vaccines for the poorest populations.
  • Provide alliance management with key vaccine development partners.
  • Work effectively with other Commercialization team members, legal counsel, in-country staff, and external partners to meet project goals.
  • Support project teams in development of proposals and donor reporting related to vaccine development activities, global access, intellectual property management and other relevant business matters.
