The Team

The OHS Development Team is a subset of the larger Advancement Team (made up of marketing, communications, corporate and foundation partnerships, teams and individual giving), and is responsible for soliciting gifts across our donor audiences. As a member of this high-performing team, the Director, Corporate and Foundations, is an outward-facing partnership builder, entrepreneur and fundraiser responsible for identifying new and deepening existing corporate and foundations donor partnerships. While this team collaborates closely with each other, the development team, the CEO, and other key stakeholders across the organization, Director of Corporations and Foundations will be entrepreneurial, strategic, and driven to meet and exceed goals. This position is new, and will oversee merged corporate and foundations teams, and will be directly responsible for raising funds to fuel our mission.

The Position

In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and maintaining relationships with key corporate partners and foundations to support OHS' mission. The Director, Corporate and Foundations’ primary role is to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive corporate and foundations giving programs and strategy that aligns partners’ philanthropic interests with OHS priorities and initiatives. This role will lead a team of four to secure partnerships, employee giving opportunities, sponsorships, grants, donations, and in-kind donations that support the mission and vision of Oregon Humane Society.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In partnership with the Director, Philanthropy , develop and implement a comprehensive corporate and foundation fundraising strategy aligned with the Advancement Team strategy, higher OHS strategy and organizational goals.

  • Identify and cultivate new corporate partners and foundation relationships to expand support for Oregon Humane Society's initiatives.

  • Manage a portfolio of existing corporate and foundation donors, ensuring regular communication and engagement that makes sense for OHS and partners, and strong stewardship.

  • Collaborate with program leaders to understand funding needs and support the team to develop compelling proposals and grant applications.

  • Lead negotiations and partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with the organization's values and objectives.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, making data-driven adjustments as needed.

  • Represent Oregon Humane Society at events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and build relationships.

  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create materials showcasing the impact of corporate and foundation support, tap into networks and audiences of partners, and build OHS’ brand through key partnerships.

  • Identify employee giving opportunities and interactions to bring in corporate employees as new OHS donors.

  • Lead and mentor a team of four to bring in new ideas of partners and partnerships at OHS.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervises: Manager, Corporate Partnerships (PDX), Manager, Corporate Partnerships (Salem), Manager, Foundations, Specialist – Corporate and Foundations

  • 5 years’ experience in corporate fundraising, sales, or other B2B profession.

  • 3 years’ experience working with foundations including proposal development.

  • Possess excellent organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and be a team player, as well as a motivated self-starter.

  • The ability to work efficiently on multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • The professional demeanor to represent OHS to the community.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient at MS Office and CRM’s; Salesforce is preferred.

  • Able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and provide proof of auto insurance.

  • Able to exercise sound judgment and maintain a professional demeanor during all interactions with the public, partner agencies, donors, staff, and volunteers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to communicate with a diverse population in a consistently informative, respectful, and professional manner.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.

Work Environment Conditions & Physical Requirements

This position interacts and collaborates will all levels of the organization, including OHS staff, executive team members, donors, general-public, external vendors, volunteers, and supporters. Contact and communication is carried out through face-to-face, telephone and digital interactions. Excellent customer service skills are essential to success. Communication must be clear, understandable, professional and respectful in all circumstances.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in an office and medical center/animal shelter environment.

  • Travel between the two campuses may be required.

  • Working at both campuses may be required.

  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

  • Animal contact and related injuries may occur.

  • Noise exposure varies and sometimes includes uncontrolled barking and other animal vocalizations.

  • Pace of work is active and demanding, requiring a high degree of multitasking and ability to adapt to changing priorities while managing concurrent projects/tasks to completion.

  • Contact with angry or emotional people may occur.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional lifting and moving of inanimate objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Occasional pushing and pulling of carted items weighing up to 100 lbs.

  • Occasional moving items above shoulder level.

  • Occasional use of hands and arms at or above shoulder level.

  • Prolonged standing, sitting and/or stooping may occur.
