Since launching 3.5 years ago, we now have 8900 Block Ambassadors committed to cleaning up over 10,700 square blocks and are recognized as a force for good in Oregon and Washington. We are an opportunistic, technology forward, high touch, and efficient environmental and community building 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Position Description: Operations Manager/Director

AdoptOneBlock seeks an Operations leader with proven experience in keeping a lot of plates spinning and where operations or admin support was the primary role. 

This position will have the opportunity to work on all aspects of internal operations to build upon the foundation of a new but rapidly growing environmental nonprofit. This person will work closely with the Founder and Board to develop and implement necessary processes, procedures, systems of organization, and contribute to the long term vision of AdoptOneBlock’s strategic plan.

This position will function as the common denominator for the organization touching on all aspects from day-to-day operations to larger organizational goals from fundraising and grant writing to attending important community events with AdoptOneBlock volunteers. 

Main Responsibilities:

 

 Help implement AdoptOneBlock’s Strategic Plan

 

    • Manage day-to-day operations: this includes but is not limited to reviewing and updating the AdoptOneBlock website, acting as project manager on technology updates, communicating with key community stakeholders, and fostering relationships with other business leaders. 
    • Creating file systems for the organization structure and tracking and updating important organizational documents.
    • Help in the preparation and execution of Quarterly Board meetings. 

 

 Track funding cycles and help author and edit Foundation and Grant application drafts with the Founder. 

              -Manages grant calendar for all current and prospective grants.

               -Supports each grant timeline - including working with the Founder to prepare content and documentation for proposals, submitting reports                      and notifying the team of upcoming deadlines and benchmarks for applications.

 

Manage the basic Org financials in Quickbooks

                -Interface with AdoptOneBlock’s CPA via email and phone calls

                -Manage Donor Database by ensuring individual and grant contributions are being tracked and entered into the system properly.

                -Oversee and manage the gift acknowledgment process for small to medium donations.

 

Be a strong team player for AdoptOneBlock

 

                 -Be the thought partner to the Founder to think through the realities of vision and execution, helping create and edit the most critical                                communications. 

                 -Work alongside the Community Engagement Manager and collaborate on tasks when support is needed. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Google Suite Pro and comfortable learning new applications. 
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks and the ability to customize reports. 
  • Efficient and organized evidenced by success in juggling a broad set of deliverables across many areas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strategic thinker and natural problem solver evidenced by finding non-obvious solutions to day to day challenges.
  • Hard worker with a sense of humor. We do really good work in the community and want someone who is both energized by our approach and will enjoy the journey.


Compensation: 65 - 75k Annual Salary (scale depends on experience/skills), health care benefits, matching 401k, and the opportunity to grow with the role and organization. 

Location: Hybrid - WFH 75% / In-person meetings and events 25%
