THPRD has an opportunity for a Communications Specialist focused in digital engagement to be responsible for engaging our diverse community. The specialist will be part of the Communications department within THPRD, a nationally recognized leader in park and recreation services.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, photography, videography, HTML and CSS. The specialist will also have superior content creation skills, plus demonstrated ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. The successful candidate needs to be able to manage the district website, including updating content and reaching cross-cultural audiences.
This position receives general direction from the Communications Director and may exercise lead supervision over assigned part-time staff.
Components of the job include (but are not limited to):
- Design, build, and maintain a social media presence through multiple social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement performance.
- Create and utilize video content to support digital platforms.
- Develop, coordinate and implement special projects, such as maintaining a district photo library resource in coordination with graphics specialist.
Successful applicants will possess any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be with two or more years of experience working on digital public engagement campaigns producing content for a cross-cultural audience, public-sector agency experience, and an associate's degree in communications, marketing, business, English, or a related field.
Successful applicants will have knowledge and experience in:
- Producing original web content and serving as a website editor to include technical content management system (CMS), editing, writing, photo and image resizing.
- Video, graphic design, web editing, and digital photography principles.
- Collecting, compiling and analyzing information and data.
This position is considered to be non-exempt and is represented by a labor union (Oregon School Employees Association.) Salaries typically start at the beginning of the pay scale. Successful applicants must also possess an Oregon driver's license and good driving record.
