For children in poverty, one of the biggest obstacles to literacy development is the scarcity of books in the home. The Children’s Book Bank fills children's homes and lives with quality books, giving at-risk kids the chance to develop the literacy skills they need to become future readers, learners, and citizens. Volunteers who come to our space to clean community donated books are the heart and soul of The Children’s Book Bank’s ability to move thousands of gently-used books into the hands on children in need each month.
Our Community Group Leader will use his/her leadership, presentation, and communication skills to directly involve volunteers in the hands-on work of preparing community donated books for distribution to children in need. In addition, he/she will work closely with the team in order to process the thousands of donated children’s books we receive each year. This mission critical position reports to The Children’s Book Bank’s Operations Manager and is perfect for someone who wants to build volunteer leader experience and work with children’s books from point of intake to delivery to our community partners.
