PURPOSE: To provide effective case management services to refugees with an emphasis on employment services.
ACCOUNTABILITY: To the mission and goals of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) as determined by the Board of Directors, and as administered by the Executive Director and their delegates.
REPORTS TO: SOAR Program Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None.
LOCATION: EMO’s SOAR program site and other sites as needed.
CLASSIFICATION: Full time, non-exempt
*32 hours is considered full-time at EMO.
BENEFITS: Salary starting at $31.18 per hour, with increases available for education and/or multiple language abilities. All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, 401(k) retirement plan, employee assistance program and employee trainings. Employees in exempt positions or non-exempt positions that are 20 hours per week or more, also receive medical insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance and life insurance, per eligibility requirements.
EMO has an organization-wide Pay Equity Plan (PEP). This PEP provides standardized increases to base pay for staff who have technical skills or specialized training beyond the minimum qualifications for a job, significant prior experience in similar roles, language skills relevant to the position, and/or who hold academic/professional degrees or certifications related to the role.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing, implementing and following-up on case management plan.
- Determining social service eligibilities.
- Providing comprehensive social service assistance leading to self-sufficiency.
- Identifying refugees’ employment skills, employment history and providing referrals to employment skills training and other job support services.
- Creating resume’s and setting up accounts with employment related online platforms for the clients.
- Conducting Job readiness training to the clients.
- Connect and build working relationships with potential employers.
- Providing on-going problem solving.
- Providing referrals, orientations and follow-up services for clients.
- Assisting with transportation to appointments, assisting with securing permanent housing, and completing the rental agreement.
- Maintaining comprehensive and timely case notes.
- Participating fully and professionally in staff trainings and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work within the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO.
KNOWLEDGE: Musthave experience working with refugees. Bilingual communication skills required – read, write and speak English and one of the refugee languages. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Social Service degree preferred.
SKILLS: Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and to affirm people from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances; especially to treat all individuals with respect and dignity; High-level organization and prioritization skills and ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor.
EFFORT: Must poses car, valid driver’s license and car insurance. Must be able to lift and raise items up to 50 lbs.
