Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Program Assistant. The Program Assistant works with the staff and management of Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) to provide administrative support and high-quality, coordinated, strengths-based social services consistent with the agency’s mission to people living with HIV. The individual works to provide services that include assisting with Ryan White certifications for clients, reception duties, general program support, and clerical duties as assigned.
This is a .8 FTE role working in our Service Center at our Davis St. location in NW Portland. The schedule for this role is fully onsite Monday-Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm
Starting pay is $22.04 an hr. which is equivalent to just over $36,600 a year. The Program Assistant’s pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $25.79. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are
- At least two years of experience providing similar clerical support and duties at a high-volume service-based organization OR an Associate’s degree or equivalent and one year of experience providing similar support.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team with accountability and exercise good boundaries, sound judgment, discretion and professionalism at all times.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to track and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced homelessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance addiction
What You’ll Do
- File maintenance support for Housing & Support Services, Finance, and HR departments
- General administrative support for management, including purchasing program supplies and maintaining inventory, scheduling meetings with community partners, and special projects as assigned
- Assist with Ryan White certifications for clients
- Manages incoming job applications as per established procedures, provides assistance to potential applicants regarding the application and posting process, and provides scheduling assistance for hiring managers
- Oversees front desk and lobby, greets walk-ins, maintains general tidiness and cleanliness of area, and monitors client/visitor conduct. Assists with referral coordination and logs significant client interactions into electronic record system
- Implements daily opening and lock-up/closing procedures of front office, including cleaning/disinfecting of lobby and public access spaces as scheduled
- Operates switchboard with multiple incoming lines and approximately 100 extensions, greets callers, refers them to appropriate person and, if necessary, takes accurate messages
