Mission:
- Think through the lens of racial equity and its intersections with poverty. Use the core principles of anti-racism and grounding those principles in all daily tasks
- Incorporate the YWCA's commitment to social justice by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions. Seek opportunities for continued learning about racial, gender and class equity
- Assure that participants, staff, volunteers and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background.
- Gain approval for, track, and engage in activities that meet the organization's 1% for Social Change Requirement
Position Specific Duties:
- Work with the Director of Sexual Assault Program to establish and effectively manage an active case load
- Document and report any participant related information in a manner that complies with federal and state requirements as well as in conjunction with program and organization policies and procedures
- Enter advocacy hours daily into statewide database.
- Attend community events such as resources fairs in coordination with the Director of Sexual Assault
- Track hours work and update timesheet weekly and by end of month deadline
- Ensure comprehension of program and organizational policies and procedures and follow them
Provide direct service, in English or in Spanish, to primary and secondary victims of sexual assault including general, medical, and legal advocacy on-site and off-site which may include, but is not limited to:
- Providing support and information over the phone, video conferencing and in-person
- Responding to hospitals, schools, juvenile detention, Clark County jail, courthouse and prosecutor's office
- Communicating with law enforcement and legal agencies
Work with victim survivors of sexual assault using an empowerment-based advocacy model to:
- Offer emotional support
- Provide relevant information and resources
- Answer complex questions and address concerns
- Make mandatory reports as legally required
Work as a team to co-facilitate the DV/SA (domestic Violence/Sexual Assault) Latina Women's support group which may include:
- Plan relevant topics with potential secondary topics
- Facilitate hour-long discussions based on group needs
- Submit intake and reporting paperwork
- Invite guest speakers to support group meetings as appropriate.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience working with persons in crisis
General
- Complete and pass a background check in accordance to contract requirements; this should not be a deterrent to applying!
- Complete all sexual assault advocacy core training requirements for Washington state
- Language fluency: verbally and in writing, clearly communicate with participants, co-workers, and community partners in Spanish and English as needed
- Dependable means of transportation
Ability to maintain strong boundaries: use work time to support the program and organization in a manner that supports our participants right to privacy
Strong problem-solving skills: resourceful and able to resolve challenges while knowing when it's time to stop and ask questions or seek additional guidance.
Strong soft-skills: adapt work and communication style to mitigate unnecessary tension, improve efficiency, increase morale, and make programmatic improvements with little or no prompting.
Strong crisis management skills: effectively and respectfully communicate often-times complex and emotionally charged information to participants, law-enforcement, court officials, co-workers, and supervisor
Ability to work in a team: modify the way a challenge is resolved if it is in the best interest of the organization and participants to do so
Strong advocacy skills: utilize empowerment-based advocacy to support participants in a manner that supports the organization's core values, goals of the program, and organization's overall-all mission
Commitment to Racial Equity: ensure that issues of diversity and inclusion, disproportionality, and cultural responsiveness are thoughtfully considered and effectively addressed in the program's internal and external work with volunteers, staff and program participants
