About the Position
As the Vice President of Advancement, you will play a critical role in leading the College’s community engagement, outreach, programming, and fundraising efforts. With a commitment to access and equity, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all advancement programs, including community and government relations, marketing and communications, and resource development for the college. In this role you, will lead the following:

  • Mt. Hood Community College Foundation and Alumni 
  • Brand, Marketing, and District Communications
  • Community-based programs, including Child Care Resource & Referral, Small Business Development Center, and Workforce, Apprenticeship and Community Education. 

Reporting directly to the president, this position serves as the top advancement officer, as a member of the President’s Cabinet, as the Executive Director of the Mt. Hood Community College Foundation, and Manager of the Mt. Hood Community College Foundation LLC.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public policy, public relations, or related field
  • Five (5) years of management experience within college advancement or nonprofits, including at least two (2) years of executive director experience
  • Three (3) years of fundraising experience 
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of a college’s community, students and employees; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity 

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
 
Preferred Qualifications
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates.

  • Master’s degree in communications, marketing, public policy, public relations, or related field 
  • Experience with bond planning and implementation 
  • Grant management experience
  • Government relations experience 
  • Experience with strategically weaving corporate, foundation, individual, and government sources of revenue to advance goals
  • Experience working with unions and ensuring compliance with union contracts
  • Experience with policies, trends, and issues in higher education 
  • Membership in professional organizations in the advancement and communication fields
