Hiring Range: $98,000 to $115,000, depending on experience.

About You:

  • Knowledgeable: You have a solid understanding of all major life income gift vehicles and bequest gift techniques, as well as current regulations and policies governing gift planning. Knowledge of local philanthropy and individual and business wealth in the region is a plus.
  • Communicator: You have excellent communication skills in writing and verbally; a demonstrated ability to present to individuals and groups, including diverse audiences; and an ability to articulate the mission of OCF and discuss philanthropic projects in detail.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

The Philanthropic Advisor and Regional Director is responsible for introducing and familiarizing the Central and Eastern regions with the work carried out by OCF and for working with prospects and nonprofits to create new charitable funds. This position will perform strategic community outreach and develop and maintain relationships with donors, prospective donors, professional advisors, volunteers and community leaders. As the lead position within a regional team, the Regional Director oversees implementation of regional strategies, ensures alignment with statewide strategies and values, supervises regional office operations, oversees outreach, stewards relationships with the Central and Eastern Oregon Leadership Councils, and provides local philanthropic leadership. This position is located in OCF’s Bend, Oregon, office and as such, staff are expected to serve as an integral part of the regional team, participating in weekly team meetings, events, and information sharing.


  1. Development (70% )

  • Develop an innovative, proactive approach to engaging with prospects and donors, including potential nonprofit endowment partners, to educate them about charitable options and create customized gift plans to achieve philanthropic goals in a manner consistent with OCF’s policies.
  • Document and track progress of relationship management efforts with support from Development staff; create and manage stewardship plans to support existing donors.
  • Maintain a systematic and organized program of contact and communication with the regions’ financial and legal professionals regarding current and planned giving opportunities available through OCF.
  • Remain knowledgeable about current federal and state tax policy matters that relate to OCF’s planned giving activities and advise on recent changes to these policies.
  • Advance OCF’s strategic plan.
  • Plan and lead events–including public speaking where appropriate–to support prospective and existing donor engagement.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.

  1. Regional Director (20%)

  • Lead and support a high-functioning regional team in coordinating regional activities, outreach activities and outreach budgets for the Central and Eastern Oregon regions.
  • Manage regional staff contact with regional board director(s).
  • Recruit, nominate, orient, and steward Leadership Council members; plan and carry out Council meetings in conjunction with regional OCF board member, Community Engagement Officer, and Regional Office Associate.
  • Serve as lead contact in regions for community leaders and elected officials.
  • Represent OCF at events in the regions, which may include speaking engagements.
  • Facilitate regional team information sharing and create a positive office culture.

  1. Supervisory Responsibilities (10%)

  • As Regional Director, hire, guide, support, and supervise Regional Office Associate, including oversight of office operations, to make sure the Bend office runs smoothly.
  • Participate in trainings and opportunities for collaboration with other supervisors periodically.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Eight or more years of experience as a development and/or planned giving officer; licensed attorney, preferably in estate planning or tax area(s); Certified Financial Planner; Certified Public Accountant; or Bank Trust Officer working in trust administration.
  • Five or more years’ prior supervisory experience – building, leading, mentoring, and inspiring team members to strategize, set priorities, and accomplish shared goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Requires valid driver's license and personal vehicle for regular use to effectively perform job duties..


Travel (25%):

  • Local, statewide, national. Overnight stay is often required.

Working Conditions and Safety:

  • Comfortable office environment.
  • Physical effort includes use of keyboard/monitor and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Report all injuries, illnesses, or accidents to your supervisor as soon as possible and within 24 hours.

Remote Work:

This position will have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week when doing so aligns with the responsibilities of the position. During the initial training period, this position may work more frequently in the office.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hiring Range: $98,000 to $115,000, depending on experience.
  • Salary offers are determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment. This initial hiring range reflects our starting offer based on your skills and experience. It’s important to note that this is just the beginning; our overall salary structure offers additional opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and development within the role, as well as resources available.
  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
