General Function:
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager is responsible to support the MFS Finance Department. Position will oversee payroll, billing, general ledger and other duties as assigned. Position will provide back up support to accounts payable processing functions.

Finance Responsibilities
- Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis using the Paycom Human Resources Information System
- Assure payroll reporting is accurate including quarterly and annual tax documents
- Prepare payroll for employees ensuring correct cost accounting information for programs is provided and recorded
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll files and records
- Researches and resolves employee questions, issues and concerns related to payroll processing
- Supports Finance Department with various department needs such as client and contract billing, general ledger, financial reports and other needs as determined by the Chief Financial Officer
- Supports Finance Department with audit needs as determined by the Chief Financial Officer
- Work with the Accountant-Accounts Payable to learn Accounts Payable processing systems and provide back-up to Accounts Payable processing as needed
- Work directly with the CFO to provide project management to document MFS Finance Department processes and procedures in a consistent and usable format
- Provide support to CFO on grants management and provide information needed for grant requests
- Work with direct service staff to create and support program based budgets
- Conduct quarterly meetings with managers and direct service staff to support budgets and provide oversigh
- Supervision of the Accountant Accounts Payable position
- Comply with Metropolitan Family Service policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handboo
- Effectively and consistently market the organization, communicating about MFS and its programs in a way that is both compelling and on message. Follow marketing guidelines in place when communicating with staff, volunteers, clients, partners, and potential supporters
- Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Sound technical skills, analytical abilities, good judgement including ability to effectively use financial IT tools, systems and programs
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to Metropolitan Family Service employees and vendors, contractors and business partners

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Prefer Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or related, equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of accounting experience to include general ledger, financial statements, payroll, accounts payable and receivable
- Experience in the supervision of employees
- Familiarity with Paycom HRIS is beneficial

Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.
