The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a 14-room facility with a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social services, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what ‘living well’ means to them. Our House a program apart of Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Caregiver/ Med Technician. This position is responsible for working within the framework of the interdisciplinary approach to resident care to administer non-injectable medications, providing direct care to the residents as well as environmental care of the facility by performing duties within the Caregiver/ Med Tech scope.

This is a Full-Time role working at Our House location in SE Portland. The schedule for this role is Tuesday-Thursday (Med Tech) 6:30am-3:00pm, Friday & Saturday (Caregiver) 6:30am-3:00pm.

Starting pay is $21.54 which is equivalent to just over $44,800 a year. The Caregiver/ Med Tech’s Pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $25.29. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass DHS background check to work in a Residential Care Facility
  • Training as a Medication Tech with 1 year of previous caregiving or other related relevant healthcare experience. Or successful completion of training as a Medication Technician at Our House of Portland.
  • CPR certification or ability to become certified.
  • Food handler’s card or ability to obtain one.

What You’ll Do

  • Provides care utilizing principles of safety and infection control.
  • Documents care provided in electronic record.
  • Participates in the implementation of the resident care plan.
  • Stocks supplies and equipment as needed (gloves, wipes, etc).
  • Has knowledge of medications, side effects and interactions, or ability to locate this information.
  • Records scheduled and PRN medications on the resident’s electronic medication administration record.
  • Educates residents as to the purpose and potential side effects of their medications as needed.
