Tualatin Riverkeepers is seeking our next Volunteer and Restoration Manager. The position oversees all aspects of TRK’s growing restoration and stewardship work, and has direct responsibility for our efforts to recruit and train new volunteers across the organization. The manager is responsible for building relationships with land management organizations, organizing restorationg and stewardship projects, and coordinating outreach efforts, training and placing watershed ambassadors at public events.

Responsibilities include:

Restoration and Stewardship

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with land management partners throughout the Tualatin River watershed.
  • Identify and schedule restoration partnership opportunities.
  • In conjunction with TRK’s Executive Director, identify strategic opportunities to partner on large scale restoration projects.
  • Recruit and train Restoration Crew Leaders, with responsibility for leading TRK-sponsored restoration and stewardship events.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for prospective volunteer groups.
  • Develop materials for and facilitate Restoration Crew Leader programming
  • Facilitate community stewardship events at both unique single opportunity sites and partnered sites throughout watershed

Volunteer Management and Outreach

  • Identify outreach opportunities at select community events, coordinate placement of watershed ambassadors.
  • Coordinate recruitment of individual volunteers, working with TRK colleagues on placement in their respective programs.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of best practices for volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination.
  • Develop and update volunteer and outreach materials.
  • Develop materials for and facilitate watershed ambassador programming.
  • Identify outreach opportunities such as tabling events, public arts projects, establishing organization representation at local gatherings.
  • Represent TRK at public events, trainings, and forums, particularly those related to outreach and restoration work.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist colleagues in coordination of our annual Discovery Day and Green Heron Fundraiser events.
  • Identify partnerships and learning opportunities within the realms of DEI work and environmental justice.
  • Participate in organization-wide activities, such as annual member meeting, strategic planning, and board meetings, as requested.

 Required Qualifications:

 Knowledge of local native, non-native and invasive species

  • Experience in hands-on habitat restoration work
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Comfort in working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Strong communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 1+ years experience in volunteer management
  • 3-5 years educational or professional experience in restoration or environmental management
  • Ability to speak Spanish

 Salary and Benefits: 

  • $54,000 - $58,000/ year
  • Full health and dental insurance paid by employer
  • 3% retirement match with immediate eligibility
  • 5 weeks of paid annual leave
