Educational Assistant - EKT Summer Program
Metropolitan Family Service helps individuals overcome poverty and social isolation through innovative programs focused on prevention and community support. We seek a dedicated Educational Assistant to support our EKT Summer Program, contributing to a positive and enriching experience for elementary-age students.
Position Overview: As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting classroom activities, managing student behavior, and assisting teachers during the EKT Summer Program. This position involves creating a safe and engaging environment where children can learn and grow through various activities.
Key Responsibilities: You will assist in the implementation of daily activities, providing support to students in both classroom and recreational settings. This includes helping to manage student behavior, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and actively participating in program activities. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with teachers, the SUN Site Manager, and other staff members to address student needs and ensure program effectiveness. Your enthusiasm, patience, and ability to connect with children will be crucial to fostering a supportive learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Experience in supporting a classroom setting
- Desire and ability to work with children and ensure an enriching, positive, safe setting
- An independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful individual
- Excellent organization skills and interpersonal communication skills
- A cooperative manner and the ability to work as part of a team
- A willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion
- Demonstrate excitement in working with children. Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions
- Demonstrate enthusiasm about working in an inclusive environment which serves children of all backgrounds and abilities
- Experience working with groups of elementary-age children and strong behavior management is a MUST
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally able to work in the United States (documentation will be required for I-9 form)
- Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese speaking skills are a plus
- Basic English proficiency is required (must be able to read, write and speak English)
- All employees must submit a criminal background check
Hours:
Mon-Thurs 9:00am- 1:00pm

Compensation: $18 per hr
