The Reed College Theatre Department invites applications for a visiting assistant professor appointment in Theatre with an emphasis in theatre history and practice. This appointment is for the 2023-2024 Academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses, including two of the department’s theatre history courses (Theatre History I, ancient-naturalism; II, naturalism-9/11; and III, 9/11-now), a class in the candidate’s area of expertise, and one or two of the following classes: directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, solo performance, improvisation, or gender and theatre. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise senior theses and contribute to department service. We are especially interested in scholar/practitioners who are able to teach broadly within the discipline, who are committed to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, and who maintain an active scholarly and/or professional practice. A Ph.D., D.F.A., or equivalent degree is required, as is evidence of successful college-level teaching and professional experience.
