Cascade AIDS Project in SW Washington is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Rent Assistance Specialist. The SW WA Rent Assistance Specialist works with the staff and management of Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) to provide high-quality, coordinated, strengths-based social services consistent with the agency’s mission. The individual works on CAP’s SW Washington team to provide services that include: completing emergency rental assistance applications and goal plans, contacting landlords to set up payment of rent and fees, arranging medical motel vouchers, providing information and referral, advocacy, and eviction prevention support services to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
This is a Full-Time role working at our Vancouver location in SW Wahington. The schedule for this role is a hybrid Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Starting pay is $22.77 an hour which is equivalent to just over $47,370. The Housing Navigator Pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $26.52. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field or two years’ experience relevant to the position
- Prior experience providing case management (or similar) services
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better support the communities that we serve
What You’ll Do
- Completing emergency rental assistance applications, mediation and direct communication with landlords and property managers,
- Working with clients to develop goal plans.
- Collecting supportive documentation including, but not limited to leases/rental agreements and income verification.
- Coordination of medical and transitional housing motel vouchers.
- Completing check requests for housing payment to be submitted for management approval.
- Offering case consultation to referring case managers
