Mid-Willamette Valley Health Equity Coalition (“MWVHEC”) Board of Directors is a group convened to lead the MWVHEC in helping individuals and families reach their highest level of health and wellness regardless of social position or other socially determined factors such as race, ethnicity, language, disability, sexual orientation, gender, immigration status, or socioeconomic status, etc., by identifying avoidable gaps related to health outcomes and health inequities in Marion and Polk Counties. MWVHEC is governed by a Board of Directors to align with nonprofit federal requirements, responsible for the overall decision-making and strategic direction of the coalition. MWVHEC Board of Directors (“Board”) are members of the Coalition, which believes health inequities result from historical injustice, racism, systemic biases, and institutional barriers spanning various social determinants of health.
Our Mission:
To overcome health disparities and promote the optimal attainment of health for all individuals in the Mid-Willamette Valley regardless of ability, age, educational level, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, income, language, race, religion, sexual orientation, and social status.
Our Vision:
To eliminate all health disparities in our community by creating an environment where all people have an equitable opportunity to attain optimal health.
Strategic Priorities:
Goal 1: Build Capacity
Continue convening and building capacity for a regional health equity coalition comprised of diverse membership reflective of Marion and Polk Counties.
Goal 2: Community Engagement
Engage and support organizations that provide services and work directly with underserved individuals and/or those experiencing health disparities, as well as community members and stakeholders interested in advancing regional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Goal 3: Education
Educate the community on health equity-related understanding and awareness among health professionals, service-based organizations, and the community.
